Discover Sensorimotor Psychotherapy: A Body-Based Approach to Trauma Healing
Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (SP) is an evidence-based, body-centered approach that integrates somatic awareness, neuroscience, and attachment theory to address the effects of trauma. Unlike traditional talk therapy, SP works with the body’s physiological responses, recognizing that trauma is stored not only in the mind but also in the nervous system.
This approach allows practitioners to support clients in accessing implicit memories, processing unresolved trauma, and fostering resilience through body-based techniques. By emphasizing mindfulness, movement, and attunement to bodily sensations, SP provides a powerful framework for healing developmental trauma, PTSD, dissociation, and attachment wounds.
Mental health professionals trained in SP develop advanced skills in nervous system regulation, relational attunement, and somatic interventions, allowing them to work more effectively with trauma survivors in clinical settings.
